Jan Madison

Jan is a certified ballroom dance instructor who teaches at the Bremerton Elks, 4131 Pine Road, NE, Bremerton, WA, and is assisted by Mr. Ralph Rankin.  She has been teaching all the popular ballroom dances since 1992. Originally from Atlanta, GA, she has relocated to Washington.  Jan is experienced with instructing the Arthur Murray as well as the Fred Astaire syllabus in studio environments.  Jan is friendly and personable with special patience for beginning students.  Her main philosophy is to have FUN with dance.

Group lessons are effective for learning the basics of ballroom dancing and have an advantage in that each student has the opportunity to dance with different partners which allows the student to improve leading and following skills.  Group lessons are inherently less expensive than private lessons.  Partners are not required for group lessons.

Private lessons allow the student to focus on shaping, styling, posture, and technique and allows the student to learn to dance at one's own pace.   Private lessons give you the confidence to dance a particular dance or routine more quickly or effectively while good floor-craft is introduced.  Students may take group or private lessons with or without a partner.

Weekly afternoon dances as well as monthly dinner dances are coordinated so that students have the opportunity to practice the steps they have learned and so that they can become better acquainted with one another in a safe and delightful atmosphere.

Group and private lessons are offered at a very reasonable rate in Bremerton, WA.

 InStep Dance

InStep Dance is owned by Instructor Doug Henry and he is assisted by Sue Henry. Doug has been an active dance instructor for many years. His goal is to promote social and ballroom dancing in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. He believes dancing builds self-confidence and promotes social activities and interaction with others. The classes emphasize frame and connection, which is your communication with your dance partner. You will also learn the skills necessary to lead and follow your partner.  We teach all levels of dance in both private and group settings.

Educated Feet, Sheila Phillips

Jitter bugging parents, a step dancing grandfather, and an uncle who played the spoons... it's no wonder dance instructor Sheila Phillips loves what she does...it's in her blood!

Growing up in a small farming community in upstate NY, she and her siblings performed regularly at local events. Sheila, who has taught dance for more than 12 years, received formal training in Jazz at college age, then went onto become certified with the Golden State Teacher's Association, and continued her training at the Washington Dance Club in Seattle, WA. She has served as a coach for the award-winning Swingin' Hepcats, and currently teaches for the US Amateur Ballroom Dancers Assn. for both the Northwest and Kitsap Peninsula chapters.

She is a certified instructor in Ballroom, Latin and Swing and offers both private and semiprivate lessons (no partner necessary). Sheila believes in sharing the joy of dance with another, and feels that dance has no age boundaries. She instructs grade scholars, teens and adults, as well as senior citizens; and particularly enjoys preparing couples for their wedding day.
