About Us

The USA Dance Kitsap Chapter was formed in April of 2002.

Our Chapter membership consists primarily of Social Dancers who enjoy dancing and the Chapter’s monthly dance is one frequently attended.  Dance attendance averages 40 to 55 people and about an even split in members and non-members

We hold 11 monthly dances on the 3rd Saturday of the month, except July.  We hold a one hour dance lesson before each dance in a series of three lessons in the same rhythm, starting with the basics and building on that.  That means we cover a different rhythm each quarter.  We host one Semi-Formal dance in January.

We hold our dances and Chapter sponsored lessons at the Bremerton Masonic Lodge at 878 5th.

Our Chapter had continued to sponsor ballroom dance lessons. Lessons are curtailed during the Summer and December holiday season. For most of the sessions we just about broke even. A total of 6 (5 hour sessions) and 8 (4 hour sessions) were held between September 2008 and September 2009.

Our Board is interested in sponsoring ballroom dance lessons with the Boys and Girls Club and designated our May dance as a fund raiser for youth dancing (ages 13 to 18).  Funds raised will allow us to pay an instructor for about ten hours of basic ballroom dance lessons.  We are currently negotiating for the donations of a facility to hold the lessons.  We will see what interest and support is generated among the youth and the Boy’s and Girl’s Club management and work on solicitation of additional funding to support this program.

Last year our Chapter supported the Kitsap and Mason County 2007 and 2008 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) dance contest.  As a result of our chapter’s participation lwe gained several new members and additional nonmember attendance at our social dances along with some free advertisement.  This year’s CFC dance contest was cancelled because an insufficient number of new dancers signed up.

We hold a National Ballroom Dance Week in September.

The music system purchased in 2005 has worked out well and has reduced the cost of social dances and this has allowed us to have a live band once a quarter.

We publish a newsletter every quarter. The newsletter is emailed it to all members with email and it is mailed to others. The newsletter is also included on this web site.

Board meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month except July.
